Welcome Cousins, Inlaws and Outlaws!

SLACK FAMILY REUNION

JULY 27-31, 2022

Eureka, California

slackreunions@gmail.com

Every few years, members of the Slack family & their relatives & friends come together to celebrate our joy in just being together. It's magical. Those of us now in our 70s (???!!!) are stunned at how quickly life passes—so don't miss this opportunity to participate.

Everyone's welcome.

Join us!

WHO IS INVITED? Descendents of Fred & Lurline Slack and Alan & Verna Peers and their spouses & ex-spouses, significant & insignificant others, children & stepchildren, inlaws & outlaws, friends & countrymen...you get the idea....

Everyone is welcome. Please sign up whether you can attend or not...

THE BASICS: The reunion will be headquartered at Lisa Slack's housethe Fred and Jan Slack homestead—at 4232 Campton Road, Eureka, CA. Activities will take place around Humboldt County and at Willow Creek. Although you must pay for lodging, the Fri/Sat dinners, Sunday brunch, and most activities will be provided. To assist you, we have reserved several Airbnbs and will help you find appropriate arrangements.

ACTIVITIES: The reunion kicks off Thursday with a free Humboldt Bay Cruise on the "Madakat" followed by a no-host dinner at the Samoa Cookhouse, a historic logging cookhouse. Those wanting to float down the Trinity River can find tubes and a launch site at the Slack Cabin (now Rick and Kim's) at Willow Creek. There will be a tour of the north Humboldt Beaches and Fern Canyon, as well as a tour of Eureka and Ferndale. For those who prefer more placid fare, there are craft activities, a recipie swap (& book), and a Geneology workshop. Plus, just minutes away are beaches, redwood parks, hiking trails, golf and other sports activites. Times, locations and in-depth info will be posted soon. THE SCHEDULE WILL BE UPDATED EVERY FEW WEEKS.

Overheard at the Last Reunion:

"I didn't know I had so many cousins!"

Hunter Davis

"Back in my day, you had to walk uphill 10 miles to get to the Slack Family Reunion"

John Mason

"Unless Lisa and Kris promise to bring their Ebelskiver pans, I'm not coming next time."

Tom Finkemeier

"Who are all these people?"

A neighbor walking by

"That Lake Paulina video was incredibly long and boring—and I hardly recognized anyone."

An unnamed preteen grandchild.

Back in the ugly old days when the Slack family was fractured, a sizeable group met at Lake Paulina in Oregon—midway between Eureka and Idaho—for our first attempt at a reunion. The year was 1991. It was terrific fun! My kids, for example, had never met most of their cousins and couldn't believe the size of their extended family. Now, 30 years later, they all know each other. Sadly, some family members have never had the opportunity to attend a reunion and we are trying to fix that...Love, Eris [Slack] Wagner
